Looking in the wrong direction….?

Life can be so funny…it’s like it just wants to keep you on your toes or something. Do we really know what tomorrow holds? Are we just tricking ourselves so we can have some sense of security or control which will, hopefully, give us hope to hold on to. It is clear the governments across the world don’t really know what is going on….or do they? Are we looking in the wrong direction?

Well l think that these last few months have proved that none of us really know what is going on or, for that matter, have any real control over our lives. I am in the process of editing my vlog for my YouTube channel and as l mentioned before, l am playing catchup with my YouTube channel. This blog, however, is up to date. Well in the video l am talking about how next year (2020…this year) was going to be a great year. Rob (A.V.O.Elvis) had a show booked at the Nottingham Arena in August and at that time, which was during our gig at The Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone, l was and l guess l still am the main bv for the show. So for the Arena show he had planned to have a choir for a couple of songs and l was going to select and work with the choir, arranging harmonies, rehearsals etc. I was really looking forward to it and that came across quite clearly in the video (which l must finish off tonight ready to be uploaded tomorrow). There was a sense of optimism in my voice. Well yesterday it was confirmed that the show has been moved to January of 2021. Well l think it is fare to say that the saying ‘God winks, or is it, laughs at our plans’ might have more truth in it than we would like to accept.

I have also spent the last week rolling around on my daughters computer chair, as her chair has wheels that are great on various surfaces. Why you might ask? Well l am glad you asked. It is because l decided to go parachuting off the top of my ladder, sans parachute. Whilst looking for the tank the engineer insisted was in the attic, despite the numerous times l told him there was nothing up there that resembled the description he gave. However, I thought l would humour him and go up and take a look. Whilst on my mobile phone, up the ladder at the same time peering into the attic, the ladder decided to tip one way and l went the other, mid conversation. The pain, was unbelievable and it only got worse as the day went on. In fact both my ankles swole up and all l could think of doing was to elevate them. I was later told l should have used ice. By the evening l could not even stand properly (enter the pink computer chair). Let’s say l thought l would need a non existant bed pan. Thank God l was able to push through the pain on that front.

My swollen ankle….the worst one

The doctor called me the next day and said if the swelling had not gone down after a couple of days, as it is possible there might be a break and so l would need to go to the hospital for an x-ray. He said it is important that if it is a break, it will need to be set properly. For me that was not an option….not happening. l had heard of people going in for one thing and then coming out with Covid 19 or dying, as in the case of my friends dad. His funeral was today. R.I.E.P. Fortunately the swelling went down 100% on one ankle and about 80% on the other. So l have been soldiering on for the last 11 days. I think overdoing it at times, so l have now resorted to wrapping up my ankle. I found a little bandage from my first aid kit which l bought in preparation for this pandemic. Unfortunately it is a little short, so l am in the process of making a bandage until l think my ankles will allow me to get out. Funny thing is l did look for bandages the same time l bought the kit, but could not find any. Huh!!

So the plan now is to stay off my feet as long as l possibly can. I cooked a few things today, which should, hopefully last us till the end of the week. My obsession with celery is going to have to wait until l can get out. The celery l am growing in my kitchen by the window is looking so tempting, but just one sniff and they would be gone. So, l think l shall let them thrive and grow a little longer. Maybe in my next post l will post a picture of them.

All this time l thought my fight was with covid 19….the fight that might take me out. Instead it was a fall from a ladder where l came just as close, if not closer. Especially when l think of how l fell, being so close to the wall…it could have been a lot worse. So although both my ankles have been hurt, l am so grateful that it was not worse.

So until the next time. Stay blessed and stay safe

Dxx
