Ok so l think l have finally set up this site. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to set it up. l was beginning to think that l had not purchased/processed the site properly as the sites l had chosen were not allowing me to edit them. Hence the word ‘sites’, because l ended up choosing about 10 over the weeks l have been trying to set this up. I used to think that l was quite tech savvy, but l have come to the conclusion that l am not, despite the fact that l have a degree in Visual Communications, which covered this as well as many other things visual. My love for all things creative will not allow me to give in to the option of asking a friend. (sorry Dave) as l know that once l get my head around it, l will enjoy the whole process. This also gives me the chance to be creative and that makes me feel very very happy 🙂 Who knows, l might even start drawing and painting again.
The back story
So earlier this year l took part in an Aretha Franklin Tribute tour. Touring up and down the country singing in Theatres, although many dates were cancelled, it was a great show and l really enjoyed it. Letitia George was an amazing Aretha and l got to sing with The amazing Genevive Sylva, who has just finished depping in Europe on The Brit Floyd Tribute band Tour. Well done hun! Whilst doing the Aretha tour, our sound engineer mentioned that a guy called Rob, who does and Elvis tribute was coming to see us as he was looking for two bv’s to take over from the ones he had previously as they were moving on. So we would be the new Sweet Inspiration ladies. He came to one of the shows and we didn’t hear anything for a while and then he contacted us and so l am on the tour, however Gen isn’t, due to the Brit tour. Hopefully she will be able to do a few dates with us next year, preferably all the shows.
I really wanted to document those shows, but more along the lines of vlogging, but l didn’t do it, but l am determined to do it this time along with this blog. I have started to do bits of vlogging and it has made me realise that you really have to be quite bold to walk around talking to the camera and filming. So l start and then l stop as l feel a little uncomfortable. Maybe if l tell the band what l am doing, more so Rob, then it might make it a little bit easier. He might want me to be careful about things l video.
It will be nice to have my musical endeavours documented as well as life in between. I don’t claim to be a makeup artist or a connoisseur of fashion, but we all wear makeup and clothes, so why not include it along with shopping etc….we’ll see. It really is just going to be me documenting my life for me to look back over. Hopefully some of you will come along with me on the journey, especially you Rob ‘Elvis’ Kingsley fans who will be journeying with us over this next year or for however long l am on this tour.
The Shows
Well so far l have three shows under my belt and l am loving it. Driving back is probably the worst thing about it, primarily the long drives, but apart from that, it is great. Rob ‘Elvis’ and his lovely wife Marie are such a dream to work for and the rest of the band have been amazing, making me feel so welcome and at home.
What has been even more amazing is last night l just popped on facebook and noticed that Rob and Marie had put a post up welcoming me to the tour and l was so overwhelmed by all the lovely comments that were made. l feel so blessed and loved. It has been nice messaging everyone, but l think l got a little carried away as l then had to sort out this site, which has taken forever and l have not really gone over the songs. So on that note, l will sign off for now and get some sleep and start again tomorrow.
One last thing
I am going to set up my youtube channel. All this techy stuff. Wow! l am really going all out now aren’t l lol! Anyway, l am planning to edit some of the footage l have taken and will be uploading it soon. I think l will need to set a date when l will publish the vlogs and when l will be blogging. It might be a little erratic at first, but once l get into it, l think we’ll get into a routine.
By for now xx
“it ain’t over till the fat lady sings’
I am not sure who started this quote/saying, and l know that there have been quite a few versions of it, but l do like the idea of finishing off with a quote 🙂 xx
